Install Programmer
One year temporary contract from Spring 2014
37 hours per week

Salary: YMT Scale 5/6 £21,155 rising to £25,557 pa

York Museums Trust is an independent charitable organisation created to manage York Castle Museum, Yorkshire Museum & Gardens, York St Mary’s and York Art Gallery.

We are currently seeking an energetic, experienced and highly organised individual to co-ordinate, implement and deliver our new displays and artist commissions at York Art Gallery for our re-launch in Spring/Summer 2015 following an £8 million development project.

The Grade II listed building is being transformed to create an exciting ‘must see’ venue in which to access our world class collections of fine art and ceramics, and to experience the best in historic, modern and contemporary visual art through a vibrant exhibition programme.

The Install Programmer will be responsible for planning and implementing the installation schedule for new displays, artist commissions, and the return of collections to York Art Gallery prior to reopening. This will include ordering materials, hiring and managing specialist staff, liaising with internal teams and external partners, and ensuring Health and Safety requirements are met.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a knowledge of historic and  contemporary art and a commitment to learning and access to art, with a minimum of 3  years experience of working with Fine and/or Decorative Arts collections. They will have proven experience of art handling and collections management, exhibition installation, working on installations with complex requirements, liaising with internal/ external project staff, and of Project Management.
